How many times do I have to learn this lesson to the point when I’m finally not buying, not listening, not affiliating, not subjecting my vision and all other after forementioned oxygen space to complete loads of crap.
How many of us have been conditioned to the tree? The tree delivers appealing fruit and we buy every ounce of it even if it sacrifices souls. Hmm, not at all different than the beginning of time.
Of course we are going to dissect the crap out of this here Loves…the lesson of barking up the wrong tree. What does it really mean? A simple google search says this; To be pursuing a mistaken or misguided line of thought or course of action. Or how about Urban Dictionary; Picking the wrong person, the most unlikely person, to do, listen, or accept something. Then we have Wikipedia, take a look…
It takes strength to step back and audit the tree and its fruit before dining on it. Isn’t it interesting that an audit will almost always uncover the real deal underneath the skin. Many times the tree and its fruit isn’t all it has sold us on.
Funny story on this actually…there they were, all the little fruit saplings rounded up in a circle displayed for all to see while the audit inside was revealing an altogether different story. And yet they still haven’t gotten it, they continue barking up this tree. Why? Well, we all do it right? We want the fruit. We bark up the tree because it is giving us fruit. It doesn’t matter what we sacrifice or what we have to do to get it. Be careful because it CAN and WILL cloud our judgement. Slowly all things are game and before we know it more game is required to get the fruit. Rest assured, funny story is seemingly acquiring plenty of this fruit. Crap, I even helped with the endeavor this time around. Misled, you bet but not up to me to handle. Plus I know it’s my Jesus working in and through me so this a good thing.
Here is the thing…I have been spiritually blind as a bat at points in my life. Oh my, how my eyes now see through entirely different vision. How we can all see so much more once we are off the wrong tree.
The next time we find ourselves in front of a tree, I challenge us to become auditors. To ask ourselves, am I willing to sacrifice my soul for this fruit that is in front of me?
I refuse to bark up the wrong tree and when I do, Jesus please give me the smack down. Are you ready for the best part? This is truth and nothing but the truth. Once again I purposely read my devotion after writing about this fruit and Jesus knows I’m unhappy with Him at the moment. So here it is…
Philippians 1:9-11 ~ And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ’s return, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Yep, told you I can’t make this stuff up. HA! We can bark up all the trees we want but eventually Jesus will give us the smack down. If not now, then.
Jesus Christ is the only tree we need to bark up, all day every day. Don’t let other fruit fool you.
Audit the trees before we say please.
Loved By Grace,
